Apart from serving as an entertainment medium, music is known for its multiple benefits in instilling confidence and perseverance in the performer and encouraging coordination, teamwork and other important developmental skills. Students are given the unique opportunity to showcase their learning in group and solo performances at our mid and end of year school concerts. This in turn allows them to embrace their cultural heritage and sense of pride.

Students from Grade 1 and above may select one of the following instruments:
Acoustic Guitar, Bouzouki, Baglama, Tzoura or Singing.

St John’s College has a long tradition in the Greek community of Melbourne. It’s dance group celebrates the greek cultural heritage and gives students a beautiful opportunity to express their identity in an artistic and creative way.

To complement our classroom-based curriculum, we offer several musical ensembles which allow students to explore music with others and develop their musicianship. Some of our Secondary School ensembles include AGS Orchestra, String Ensemble, Secondary Choir, Latin Band, Folk Band, Greek Ensemble and Drumline.

There are also many opportunities throughout each School year for students to perform, including our Annual Music Concert at The Centre Ivanhoe, Antipodes Festival, City of Yarra Carols by Candlelight and other high-profile events.

The Pancretan Association of Melbourne Victoria has been established since 1968 for the purpose of bringing together migrants of similar cultural backgrounds for mutual support and identity and cultural specific activities.

The Florinian Society of Melbourne “ARISTOTELIS” was founded in 1956 by the early Macedonian Greek migrants from the prefecture of Florina. It is amongst the oldest and most prominent established Greek cultural groups and proudly promotes and showcases Greek and Florinian Culture to mainstream Australian society and maintaining it within our second and third generation Greek Australians.

The Cultural Centre has a 40-member strong dance group made up of young dancers of both Greek and non-Greek background. The dance group regularly participate in festivals and dance exhibitions in authentic Florinian costume and accompanied by our very own Balkan brass (halkina) band.

The Florinian Society of Melbourne “ARISTOTELIS” was founded in 1956 by the early Macedonian Greek migrants from the prefecture of Florina. Cypriot Style Entertainment has been around from 2002. We have DJ and MC and Live Band. We are a Greek/Cypriot Band that plays all the “Laika” and “Dimotika” and “Cypriot” songs. We are a young band that loves to support the Greek community and the young talent.

Our feature is our Cypriot Bracket with our young Violinist that gets everyone up and dancing, our “Laiko” bracket which is Roubes, Tsiftetelia and Zeimbekika and this year we will bring our Clarinet for a “Dimotiko” small set. This way we cover everything.

Nikos, Adonis & Apollonia Xylouris were born in Melbourne and raised in Greece on the island of Crete. They have found their musical roots in the vibrant culture of Crete, where they spent nearly 15 formative years before returning to Melbourne for their studies.

Through their heartfelt performances, they have forged a musical connection between their two homelands, bridging cultures and bringing joy to audiences worldwide.

She is an avid storyteller whose passion is to inspire audiences through music, language and culture.

The Central Pontian Association of Melbourne & Victoria ‘Pontiaki Estia’ is an organisation which has proudly been part of the Greek Australian community for 47 years. With strong focus on continuity, the next generation are educated on the rich Pontic culture through music, song, dance and customs.

The joint junior and intermediate group at antipodes 2024 will have our new junior beginners performing for the first time. The group performance will travel across different parts of Pontus from Kars, Trapezounta, Ak Tag Maten and Matsouka. Live music and song will accompany the group and all dancers will be in authentic traditional costumes.
