Accessibility

The festival undertakes to:

  • Place clear directional signs that including symbols
  • Clear uninterrupted pathways across the festival site
  • Ensure that temporary ramps are installed in any location (footpaths) where existing ramps are obstructed
  • Look to ensure that 1.5m of space is maintained between furniture, stalls and exhibits or in busy areas for a person to easily manoeuvre a mobility aid (e.g. wheelchair, walking frame, stick, crutches)
  • Place covers over cables or wires to prevent tripping
  • Not use roped barriers
  • Offer wheelchairs for loan (from registration Tent)
  • Provide Access support personnel to assist where necessary e.g. pushing wheelchair
  • Ensure as much as possible step free access to stage and change room areas (Main Stage)
  • Ensure the definition of stage edges in entertainment areas
  • Provide adjustable height or roving microphones
  • Provide Spaces for a person using a wheelchair to sit with friends
  • Provide Accessible storage area for mobility aids
  • Provide Water for assistance animals
  • Ensure first aid support is readily available
  • Provide a space for storing mobility aids and baggage
  • Prepare a a Mobility Map (below) of the site showing accessible pathways, toilets and parking
  • Prepare information regarding public transport access to the site
  • Engage the services of Auslan interpreters on the Main Stage programming (Saturday Night)
