Jess Wilson and Her Colleagues Take a Stroll Amongst the Antipodes Stalls

State opposition leader Jess Wilson and her party colleagues took a stroll through the 38th Antipodes Festival.   The State Opposition representatives spent the visit adressing the crowd and then strolling through the Festival stalls engaging with stallholders, performers and festivalgoers.

Leader of the Opposition Jess Wilson led the visit, joined by Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs Evan Mulholland, David Davis, Bev McArthur, Chris Crewther, Moira Deeming and Rachel Westaway as they toured the festival precinct and connected with members of the Greek community.

Speaking from the stage, Ms Wilson reflected on the significance of the festival and the contribution of Greek Australians to Victoria.

“It’s wonderful to be here for the 38th year of the Lonsdale Street Greek Festival,” she said.

“You come for the food, you come for the music, and you come for the community.”

She also acknowledged the role of the Greek community in shaping Melbourne’s cultural and economic life.

“Greek Victorians make a mark every single day here in our state, and our city and state are more vibrant and diverse because of those contributions,” she said.

Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism and Multi-Faith Affairs Evan Mulholland reflected on the migrant stories shared by many communities.

“Events like Antipodes are a toast to the generations that came before us,” he said.

Mr Mulholland also thanked the Greek Community of Melbourne for its work in preserving culture and bringing communities together, adding that the Liberals and Nationals look forward to continuing to support the festival in the years ahead.

David Southwick MP, who noted he has attended more than 20 Antipodes Festivals over the years, also expressed his ongoing support for the Greek community and the festival.

The visit provided an opportunity for Liberal representatives to connect with the Greek community and experience one of Melbourne’s largest cultural celebrations firsthand.
